Say Hello to Steve! is a Flickr pool that celebrates, even embraces the highly reflective screens on recent MacBooks and iMacs.

A lot of people have complained about the glossy screens. They have expressed their displeasure with protests and polls. Some wish that Apple still offered a matte alternative. Others have tried the glossies and found that, because the LCD panel display is so much brighter, they’re not so bad after all.

But the folks at the Say Hello to Steve! group are happy with their glossy screens. They like to see themselves – and their surroundings – reflected in the screens when they’re dark. The upshot is some nice, sometimes quite artistic, photographs. What can you see in your screen when your MacBook’s not switched on?

    Thankfully I don’t see a man over 30 yet still wearing t-shirts.

What do I see? Mainly glare from the Anglepoise lamp which accompanies the
macbook on my desk; and not only when the screen is dark.

Thinking of buying a powersupport glare guard…

Oh yeah Herzog, get down with yrself. You are all like “man I am so much better than some stranger online because I’m over 30 and I don’t wear t-shirts.” You are so cool. Can I be you?

  3. Browncoat Penguin says:

    No, you can’t be.

@ the bogus ‘Herzog’ above: touche.

That guy in the reinforces the stereotype of the Mac
user as the kind of bloke who commutes to his job in an Avid suite
on a skateboard or mini-scooter despite pushing middle age. Prides
himself on beng a ‘creative’ despite the mundane ‘cut and paste’ reality
of his work. Probably collects imported Star Wars figures from Japan
too. Very much like the ‘Nathan Barley’ of the UK TV series:

Still, the guy in the photo is just being himself; so no personal offence intended.
