Promising to take you inside the “fractured psyche” of Bruce Wayne, a gorgeously animated new Batman iOS game plunges players into a branching narrative that features plenty of DC Comics’ favorite Bat-characters.

The first episode of Batman: The Telltale Series — from Telltale Games, maker of great iOS titles like Tales from the Borderlands and The Walking Dead — lands today, and it looks like another story-driven winner. Check out the trailer below.

Episode 1 of the game will set you back $4.99, but you can save 20 percent on additional episodes by purchasing the Multi-Pack bundle via an in-app purchase.

Having not played the desktop or console versions of Batman: The Telltale Series, I’m excited about diving in — and particularly about the opportunity to finally play a Batman game that gives equal weight to the Dark Knight’s daytime alter ego, Bruce Wayne. As I understand it, that means a fair bit of snooping detective work alongside the action scenes.

Either way, I hope to have a full appraisal later this week!
