We’ve been told for a long time to expect the Internet of Things to give us a new relationship with our homes. By releasing HomeKit, Apple took a big step toward turning that prediction into reality, offering a platform for apps to interact with your home right through your iPhone.

Eve Energy smart switch is HomeKit-enabled

Now, Eve Energy, a HomeKit-enabled smart switch and power meter, is showing the world how easy and intuitive Apple’s new platform can make managing home energy use.

A sleek wall outlet that works with an iOS app, Eve Energy gives you direct access to any plugged-in devices. You can switch them on or off with a simple tap or even by talking to Siri. Eve also takes advantage of HomeKit’s end-to-end encryption and inter-device authentication, using Bluetooth low energy to connect easily and privately, without the need for a network hub, gateway or bridge.

Each device connected to an Eve Energy switch can be assigned a custom name, gathered into groups, and programmed into “scenes” that let you control multiple things with a single, simple command. When you’re away from home, Eve offers monitoring and control of all connected home devices via Apple TV.

Eve Energy monitors your power consumption

Remotely controlling home devices is cool, but Eve Energy goes the extra mile with its ability to instantly show how much energy your devices are using, channeling this data straight to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. It presents the hard, boring numbers about your home’s energy use in a way that’s actually pretty nice to look at.

Beyond looking nice, the feedback is genuinely useful — the automatically generated graphs break down consumption by day, month or year, with a brand new feature that calculates projected costs..

It’s not hard to see how Eve Energy can help you cut down on electricity bills. You can instantly see which devices are using the most power, or spot and correct bad usage habits over time. If you accidentally leave something on, even from the other side of the world, you can pull out your glowing rectangle of choice and turn it off remotely. This approaches Jetsons-level convenience.

Unlike other smart home devices, Eve Energy uses Bluetooth so it can avoid interfering with your household’s energy use or information flow. It won’t slow down your Wi-Fi network or interfere with other devices, and it runs on mere sips of energy.

Let Eve Energy transport your home into the future

If you’re looking to keep better track of your power usage, or are just interested in feeling like you live in the future, it’s time to take Eve Energy for a spin. It’s also worth taking a look at the rest of Eve’s family of HomeKit accessories too, which offer data on your home’s air quality, temperature, humidity, air pressure and more.
