Just over a month after launching its own live video service, BitTorrent is getting into music. Legal music, that is. Its new BitTorrent Now app for iOS and Apple TV brings you the latest tracks and videos from independent artists as soon as they’re available.

BitTorrent Now is exclusively for independent music creators. It’s a platform where bands and solo artists can upload their own material for the world to enjoy — and you’ll be able to enjoy a lot of it for free.

Just like other music streaming apps, BitTorrent Now will let you browse for artists you’re familiar with, and discover new ones. It won’t just support songs and videos, either; BitTorrent will also allow VR content and more.

It’s up to artists whether they want to make their content available for free, force users to watch ads, or stick it behind a paywall. Some of it will require a subscription, then, but it seems unlikely many will cough up for artists they don’t know yet.

You can enjoy BitTorrent Now anytime, anywhere on your iOS device, or in the comfort of your living room on an Apple TV. The app is free to download, and it will be available to all later today.
