iOS 10 concept video has everything we want at WWDC

Since there is still much to learn about the upcoming iOS 10 debut presumably at WWDC this year, Federico Vittici of MacStories and concept designer Sam Beckett took it upon themselves to bring their dreams to life. They worked together to design an incredible concept video that fulfills Vittici’s wishes for the next version of iOS. The video is nothing short of stunning and their implementation of his (completely reasonable) feature requests will have you absolutely drooling.

For one, Vittici essentially wants Control Center 2.0. The new Control Center would be fully customizable so you can drag and drop controls, support 3D Touch for even more detailed toggles and support third-party shortcuts at the bottom. For some reason, the part of the video that brought me the most joy was his and Beckett’s decision to move the Night Shift toggle up by the brightness slider, since it sits wildly out of place in Control Center now.

Dark Mode, another feature I’ve wanted for so long, nearly brought tears to my eyes. The UI would be reminiscent of the Apple Watch with black backgrounds and white text, and it’d look spectacular on an iPhone as they demonstrate.

One other highlight of the video is the Siri API, something I’ve been ready for since its debut on the iPhone 4s. It would simply allow third-party integrations within Siri, so you can schedule tasks in Wunderlist or search for music on Spotify — whatever developers are willing to allow.

Those are only three items on Vittici’s iOS 10 wish list but do check out the excellent concept video to see everything else designed and implemented just beautifully. Warning: you might develop an extreme dissatisfaction with iOS 9 after watching.
