Up until recently, I almost always accepted Game Center invites from whoever. I like playing games on my iPhone and iPad and always welcome a worthy opponent. However, there are a lot of people out there cheating and faking scores. While I handled some of this by just deleting them, I also realized that there is a way to report these accounts via Game Center.
While I don’t take Apple’s social gaming hub that seriously, it still sucks when a few bad eggs try to ruin the fun for everyone. So if you end up with a Game Center cheater on your friends list, be sure to report them before you delete them by following these steps:
How to report Game Center cheating from your iPhone or iPad
- Launch the Game Center app and tap Friends in the bottom navigation.
- Find the person in question in your friends list and tap on their name.
- Tap on the three dots in the top navigation and choose Report a Problem.
- This is where you can select the cheating option.
Notice that you can report Game Center cheating and people using inappropriate pictures and handles. When people with offensive names or images try to add me, I now make a conscious effort to report them.
I think about my young niece or nephew stumbling upon these people while playing games and it makes me cringe. These controls are there for a reason. And people like this are why we can’t have nice things.
So do us all a favor and report any sketchiness you see in Game Center, whenever you see it.
As a side note, you can do this same thing on your Mac by clicking on the gear icon next to a player’s profile.
