It’s a product with some holes in it and it’s the holes that could be of interest to Apple fans excited about the upcoming iPad Air 3.

A photo allegedly showing an Air 3 case has cutouts for a Smart Connector and four speakers. The Japanese Apple blog Macotakara raised the possibility of a beefed up iPad after seeing a case available for pre-order on Alibaba.

Apple sends specs on new devices to some third-party manufacturers of accessories so that products are available around the launch of the product, though the website, SlashGear, raises the question of authenticity because the alleged case is from a company Apple generally deals with. The company advertising the case is called Shenzhen Hong Technology Co.

If the pictures are authentic, then the iPad Air 3 will have some of the same features as the iPad Pro. On the Pro model, the Smart Connector is for Apple’s Smart Keyboard.

We will have to wait until March to see if the iPad Air 3 will indeed accommodate the Smart Keyboard or some other accessories in the pipeline. SlashGear also notes the cutout for the rear camera is bigger, which would leave enough room for a flash.

Look for yourself here.
