Best List: CFH-V15 Video Monitor by Kodak

This new 350-degree pan and tilt home security camera from Kodak is the most amazing video monitor I’ve used, ever.

I’ve helped friends set up a few security cameras over the years, usually to keep an eye on their kids or pets, and the CFH-V15 blows all of them away with its ease of use, simple setup, and high-end video quality.

I sure wish I had one of these when my kids were young.

This sleek little nanny cam has everything you can possibly need, including two-way audio, full-color high resolution, and an almost full-circle range of motion that you can manage via your iPhone. It’s got a small footprint, so it’ll fit right in on any shelf or flat surface, and you can even mount it on the wall with the included base plate and screws.

I can’t overstate how incredibly easy it is to set this thing up – no drivers to download, no ports to open on your router, no computer, even. Set up was all done right on an iPhone with the iSecurity+ app.

It took all of five minutes to add the camera to my WiFi network, and once it was connected, I was impressed at how amazingly clear the video stream was; I could see every detail in the room, whether it was dark or well-lit.

I placed it in my son’s room to see how it worked, and was pretty excited when I realized I could hear what he was saying, and could hit a button in the iPhone app to talk back to him. I could zoom in to see his face up close, or zoom out to see almost the whole room in one shot. Panning around the room was easy, too; the only place I couldn’t see was directly behind the camera, which wasn’t a huge deal as it was next to a wall.

The price is right, as well – you’re getting similar functionality to the Nest Cam, which starts at $199, for half the price.

If you’re looking for an elegant little home video monitor with motion control, night vision, and a great app experience, and you don’t want to hassle with crazy installation and networking crap (I’m looking at you, iBaby), the CFH-V15 from Kodak is the one you want, right out of the box.
