Companies have designed shoulder bags exclusively for iPads, but let’s face it — most of us just toss them in whatever bag we have. Sure, we’ll spend on a hard cover or even a protective sleeve, but the iPad’s size and sleekness don’t demand that we dedicate a separate bag.
But the iPad Pro changes things a bit. It’s larger, is best utilized with an attachable keyboard and, if you live the creative life, you need a place to stow that Apple Pencil.
WaterField Designs has released a very hip bag with an even hipper name. The Staad Attaché was designed specifically for the iPad Pro, though a 13-inch laptop can also find a fit with the elegant and understated Staad.
San Francisco-based WaterField Designs does not have a retail shop, nor does it spend money on advertising. Yet it is growing its reputation, largely by word of mouth, for gear bags that meet demands for function and simple style.
Like a valued attaché in the foreign service, the Staad is ready to serve without calling much attention to itself.
The bag comes in waxed canvas or black ballistic nylon, the flap a full-grain distressed leather in brown or black.

A scratch-fighting padded compartment protects your tablet or small laptop but leaves room in front for a separate pocket that can accommodate a keyboard, such as the Apple Smart Keyboard. There is also a dedicated Apple Pencil pocket along with two extra interior pockets.
The flap is secured by a military-grade clip and the bag features pockets with waterproof zippers. You carry it with an adjustable shoulder strap or a leather-lined handle for bag in hand.
