Lego will pay you to build models for new Michigan store

Maybe you played with Lego bricks as a kid and moved into adulthood building with computer graphics, steal and concrete. Lego always promised it could inspire future builders.

Now the toymaker loved around the world is looking for someone who still likes to hit the bricks. Lego is looking for a master model builder for a new Legoland Discovery Center in Michigan and is holding a two-day tryout next month to find the perfect candidate.

The Legoland Discovery Center will open at the Great Lakes Crossing mall in Auburn Hills, Mich., next spring but Lego is holding a “Brick Factor” Jan. 9 and 10 to find the ideal builder.

Those who can create with Lego’s interlocking bricks can apply for the position and competition here. Finalists will be chosen to attend the event and compete in a series of times design challenges.

The winner will get a master model Builder title, which includes pay, health benefits and a 401K retirement savings plan. The job description sounds fairly demanding. Candidates must be outgoing communicators and able to follow design briefs to creates models for display, which they may have to repair from time to time.

The master builder will also be required to conduct workshops, act as a Legoland spokesperson. The best competitors from the event will be interviewed before being crowned “Michigan Master Model Builder,” according to the onsite application.
