Apple has released its first beta for tvOS 9.1 to developers this morning, marking the first big software update in the pipeline for the fourth generation Apple TV that launched last Friday.

It’s not clear from the tvOS 9.1 beta 1 release notes if the software update contains any major new features for the set top box, however it does list a number of bug fixes and issues that are being worked on AVKit, Networking, On Demand Resources, Remote, StoreKit, and UIKit.

The tvOS betas are a lot harder to install than iOS and OS X betas. To get the new software on your Apple TV you’ll need to connect it to your Mac via USB cable and install the update via iTunes after you download it from the Apple Developer Center.
