Conan O’Brien and sidekick Andy Richter head off to Comic-Con International this week on the late night television show.

Instead of taking the train down, Richter decides to take a road trip. Conan is excited!

What happens next is a thing of beauty, as Team Coco blasts on down the Fury Road in a auto-monster straight out of Mad Max’s latest big-screen adventure. Check it out in the video below.

San Diego’s Comic-Con is the biggest comic and pop-culture convention in the world, with over 130,000 folks coming from all over the globe to attend. It’s not just for comic nerds, anymore, either, far outstripping the original founders’ vision for a local comic book convention.

Conan’s take on the road trip to Comic-Con is pure genius, as the current con is home to an astonishing array of professional and amateur cosplayers, men and women who dress up in elaborate re-creations of their favorite characters from movies, television, and comics.

Enjoy the short film as Conan, Andy, and members of the Basic Cable Band take to a massive road warrior vehicle, complete with huge guitar amps, a suspended Conan O’Brien, cooking hot dogs via the flame-throwing axe, and a wrong turn somewhere around La Jolla.
