If you’re a fan of iOS gaming you’ve probably visited (or should visit) TouchArcade, which just so happens to be the largest and oldest iOS gaming website on the Internet.

Featuring news, reviews, guides, interviews, and one of the best iOS gaming forums you’ll find anywhere, TouchArcade is a great resource for anyone who feels like we’re currently in the middle of something of a golden age for mobile gaming.

But the site needs your help.

As TouchArcade’s editors point out, while there are still some tremendously high quality games out there, increasingly the App Store is dominated by free-to-play games which eschew buying banner ads on places like TouchArcade in favor of paying market companies which specialize in getting people to sample the latest freemium game.

“In the face of this new style of game marketing, traditional advertising revenue has all but completely dried up, and TouchArcade is dying,” the website’s owners write.

“We want to continue our focus on all the amazing things happening inside the world of iOS gaming without compromising our focus or diminishing the experience for our readers. We want to keep providing incredibly in-depth reviews of obscure games you might not have heard about otherwise, we want to keep shining spotlights on sleeper indie classics, and we want to keep the internet’s best iOS gamer community alive and healthy. We want to continue exploring the specialized corners of the App Store no one knows about. It’s hard to imagine how boring iOS gaming would be without a site like TouchArcade to highlight the massive amount of incredible games that slip between the cracks of Apple’s featuring system, and where the studios behind those games would be without us bringing attention to their efforts.”

To keep going with the surprisingly-costly business of running a website, TouchArcade has set up a Patreon account asking loyal visitors to the site to donate a fixed amount of money on a monthly basis.

Pledges range from $1 per month to larger amounts aimed at developers who want to use the site to spread awareness of their titles.

It’s a great cause, so if you’re even slightly into iOS gaming it’s well worth paying a visit to lend a helping hand.
