Lonely Apple Watch buyers turn to the Internet to share their heartbeats

One of the most original features of the Apple Watch is the ability to send your heartbeat to a friend or loved one. With only a small fraction of Watches having shipped, however, early adopters are turning to the Internet to try and find other Apple fans willing to test out the new feature.

I can’t quite work out whether this is depressing, or the perfect hook for a 2015 update of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan’s You’ve Got Mail.

The users in question can be found on reddit’s R/lonelyheartbeats subreddit. It’s still in its infancy — with just 115 readers — but if you’ve ever been on the lookout for the closest thing to an Apple personal ads corner of the Internet, this is it!

“It started as a group of Watch buyers who didn’t know anyone else that was getting one and wanted to play with the Watch to watch heartbeats, sketches, and tap features,” redditor nooshaw tells Wired.

Topics range from the desperate (or is it a Smiths song remix?) “Please oh please come tap me” to the I’m-a-good-guy-seriously “Please add me (I draw very few dicks)!”

Ironically, even subreddit founder nooshaw is as-of-now unable to take advantage of his own creation, since his Apple Watch is currently in “processing purgatory.”
