Snapchat used to have a “Best Friends” list that showed you who each of your friends snapped with the most. It was a weird, slightly stalkerish part of the app that was removed last year.
Now Snapchat has brought back a way to see top friends, but in a more fun way that relies totally on emojis (and won’t destroy your relationships). Here’s how to decode what the new Snapchat emojis mean.
Once you get today’s update to Snapchat in the App Store, you’ll notice a couple of changes.
Swipe to the left from the main camera viewer to your friend list.
You’ll notice a few emojis next to certain names.
Here’s what they mean:
There are six new friend emojis to help you decipher who your real Snapchat homies are. The new fire emoji will be displayed next to a number showing how many days you’ve been on a snapstreak with someone.
There’s a new low light setting for the camera that will automatically brighten dimly lit shots.
There’s also a new “Needs Love” section under “Best Friends” and “Recents” when you’re sending a snap.
It’s for people you haven’t snapped in awhile. Aww.
