We’ve seen a lot of iPhone 6 torture tests in our day. But this guy dropping his iPhone 6 in a lava lamp has to be the grooviest.

YouTube user TechRax runs what could be described as a hostel (I mean that in the Eli Roth sense) for torturing iPhones. He has boiled iPhones in Coca-Cola, blast an iPhone 6 with 6000 degree flame, pour molten aluminum over his iPhone 6, and even shoot one point blank in the face.

For his latest torture test, TechRax submerged a 24K iPhone 6 in a huge lava lamp, which he had to crack open himself. And it’s all pretty trippy, because for several minutes, as lava cascades down the side of the lamp, the iPhone 6 continue to work.

See for yourself:

I’ve got to admit, I’m torn on torture test videos like this. On the one hand, I sort of admire the ingenuity with which people with seemingly limitless incomes can come up with to destroy their expensive smartphones. On the other hand, it’s just extremely wasteful, and doesn’t really prove anything… except, perhaps, how much more impervious to damage the iPhone is than its reputation would suggest.

Suffice to say, don’t try this at home, kids.
