“I believe men of talent have a part to play in the war to come,” says spymaster Varys to Tyrion, the Lannister least likely to beat anyone in a duel.

That’s the takeaway line from one of a pair of new clips out today from HBO’s hotly anticipated Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere, which is slated to air April 12.

Isn’t that (and the newly announced cable-free HBO Now) why you all got a new Apple TV? I know I did.

You can see more of this conversation in the official Season Five trailer, in which Tyrion responds with, “Good luck finding him.”

That’s when Varys gets to deliver a wonderful response alluding to mother of dragons Daenerys Targaryen: “Who said anything about him?”

The second clip released today is a conversation between Jon Snow, the bastard son of Ned Stark, and Mance Rayder, the leader of the Wildlings beyond the wall. In it, Snow dresses down Rayder for something Snow thinks will be dangerous to the clans that Rayder spent his whole life uniting.

“Isn’t your survival more important than their pride?” asks Snow.

Game of Thrones “airs” on both cable HBO and HBO Now starting April 12. It can be free to you if you sign up for the (three-month) Apple-exclusive HBO Now service first.
