Get ready to watch the epic slow burn in the official trailer for the upcoming conclusion to Rocksteady’s Arkham video game series, Batman: Arkham Knight. Scarecrow is uniting all of Batman’s enemies — Penguin, Two-Face, the Riddler, Harley Quinn, Poison, Ivy, and the Arkham Knight — to take Gotham City and take down The Bat.

Sure, there’s a little bit of Bane-like incomprehensibility in the Scarecrow’s voice-over, and (barring a miracle) the Joker won’t be in town this time around, but this game is looking pretty amazing. The in-game shots of Batman plunging down the skyscrapers of Gotham City, the brutal combat animations, and the just plain high-resolution glory of the fictional city and it’s lone hero make us want to play Batman: Arkham Knight right now.

Check out the epic trailer for the June 2, 2015 game below.

The visual fidelity here is just amazing – it’s hard to tell the difference between the in-game shots and the pre-rendered sequences, though with today’s consoles, teams may just use in-game engines to create cutscenes anyway. The game world is reportedly 5 times the size of Arkham City’s, so we’ll have plenty of room to batarang around in.

The Arkham Knight is an original character created specifically for this video game and speculations about his identity are still running the gamut. Maybe he’s a robot, or a disgruntled Arkham Asylum guard, or someone even closer to Batman or Bruce Wayne? No one seems to know, so we’ll have to wait until June to find out.

Until then, though, the above video (and assorted media on the official game page) will have to hold us over while our anticipation for this final entry in an already stellar series ratchets up to an all-time high.

You can pre-order the game now (if that’s how you roll), or pick it up in June for the standard $60 for all the next gen consoles (PlayStation 4 & Xbox One) and Microsoft Windows PCs.
