Apple’s introduction of widgets in iOS 8 has already created some great new tools for iPhone users, but if you’d like to add a little fun to your Notification Center, Overglide has a widget adds a widget to the boring place where you usually just get calendar and email notifications.
Overglide for iOS 8 turns your Notification Center into a game by embedding its simple paper airplane game into the Today pane, giving you instant gaming access no matter what app you’re in.
The game is basically a Flappy Bird clone where you navigate your plane in between obstacles. It’s pretty fun and you can access it even when you’re iPhone is locked, but what’s most exciting is that your favorite game developers will hopefully steal the idea too.
We wouldn’t be surprised if Apple decided to slap a ban on gaming widgets – especially after it got so hostile over a simple calculator – but the idea of swiping down to instantly jump into your favorite instant runner or other simple games, could have iOS users clamoring for developers to add the feature to their games.
You can pick up the app for $0.99 in the App Store, but at that price you might want to just wait for the real Flappy Bird to make its own widget.
