From Need for Speed Most Wanted to Real Racing 3, there are some great driving-based games for iOS. None are quite like Torque Burnout, though.
Promising to combine the most fun bits of every racing game ever into a standalone title, the forthcoming mobile game from developer League of Monkeys is basically an excuse to just do donuts… over and over again.
Yes, that’s right: it’s a game is which you take ultra-powerful cars and grind them into the tarmac doing burnouts to drive the crowd into a frenzy. The graphics themselves look really good, and the smoke effects are pretty nifty, too.
Without the kind of second-to-learn-lifetime-to-master replayability of the best driving games, it’s most likely a short-term pleasure but, oh, what a pleasure! Not too much more is known about Torque Burnout yet, but if the developers can find a way to work in such fun mini games and achievements (something that the trailer hints at) I could definitely see this being a breakout hit.
Torque Burnout is set to speed into the iOS App Store in November.
