A table that could wirelessly charge your iPhone and iPad

Let’s face it. None of us are all that jazzed about having to plug our iPhones into the wall to charge them. We’re all yearning for the days in which wireless charging comes to the iPhone, iPad, and even Mac.

And when it does, furniture like this simple side table are going to become our de facto chargers.

Designed by Youmin Vincent Kim, the Soak is a sidetable that can wirelessly charge gadgets. One of the legs plugs into a standard wall socket, while the top of the table is a Qi wireless charging pad. All you do is throw a Qi-compatible gadget on top of the Soak, and it’ll automatically start sucking in power.

One of the great aspects of this design, though, is it doesn’t even require wireless charging to be an elegant solution to keeping your gadgets charged. Even if the table had, say, a built-in Lightning cable for charging an iPhone, the Soak would still be a better solution to iPhone charging — at least when it comes to fung shui — than having a long cable snaking out of your wall, ready to trip someone.

Sadly, the Soak is just a concept, so it’s not available for retail sale just yet. Someday, though, I hope all our furniture works this way.
