Shazam got a cool update today.

The song-recognition app that Apple is baking into Siri in iOS 8 can now play back full tracks thanks to a partnership with Rdio. Users with the Rdio app installed will be able to listen to a whole song tagged in Shazam without having to the leave the app.

“We are thrilled to be the first streaming service to power Shazam’s new in-app song playback,” said Chris Becherer, SVP of Product at Rdio. “This partnership helps us deliver on our promise to be everywhere music is being discovered.”

Once a song is tagged using Shazam’s algorithm, the app lets you stream or purchase through places like iTunes, Spotify and Rdio. After today’s update, it’s easier to use Rdio over the other services in conjunction with Shazam.

Shazam won’t go away as a standalone app when iOS 8 debuts in the fall, but it will be integrated into Siri to let you quickly find a song playing near you. The Shazam app is also capable of recognition TV shows, and everything you’ve tagged can be organized into playlists.
