Crystal Baller: Killing the headphone jack and other stupid Apple rumors

By

The Rumor: Apple's chief of software Craig Federighi joined Twitter just before WWDC with the new @Craig_Apple handle.

The Verdict:Don't be fooled. After CNBC tweeted that they confirmed with Apple the account really is Craig's, we did a little digging of our own and concluded there's just no way any Apple SVP would be tweeting the stuff the account was spiting out, even though we really wish it were him.
Federighi was the fan favorite at WWDC this year, with lines for pictures with him wrapping around the conference center. He's got the sharp wit and charm to kill it on Twitter, unfortunately, Craig himself has verified it's not his account.

I’m going to save this simply because I believe the headphone jack says are well and truly numbered

Yeah I’d tentatively agree, but this is debunking the imperative aspect of the rumor. A cordless set of Beats given away free with iphones that also still have headphone jack (or something like this) would be an indicator. Nothing yet at all…

Give me an adapter that can have a Y cable to charge and plug a 3.5mm headphones into and ditch the 3.5mm jack off the phone. Gives more room for BATTERY.

    hologram iPad confirmed! WWDC 2020!

I firmly beleive they would never ditch a real headphone jack, especially if the next set of phones are larger. However a lightning audio connector could still be a true rumor, if you put it in the perspective of CarPlay. CarPlay requires a wired connection to the car to function. So it would stand to reason all your protocols would be transmitted through that connection … audio, mic, data, video… Anyone who has tried to use Siri through a bluetooth connected car system would pray this rumor is true.
