Is it wrong that — regardless of how many times I get burned on either Michael Bay Transformers movies, or video game movie adaptations — I’m still excited at the prospect of a new Transformers game?

DeNA and Hasbro has just announced the official tie-in game for the upcoming Transformers sequel, Age of Extinction. As with the movie, the mobile game will be landing on iOS devices (as well as Android and Windows Phone) this summer.

According to the press release, we’re expecting a 3-D combat runner, where the players’ mission is to take down new enemies as they run, dash and, of course, transform their way through fast-paced missions.

“This isn’t your typical runner game,” says Barry Dorf, vice president of partnerships and alliances at DeNA. “This game puts the player in the middle of an action-packed Hollywood blockbuster where it’s destroy or be destroyed!”

There are no other details as of yet, but we’ve been told that players can receive a free Rare Transmetal Rocket Launcher, designed specifically for Decepticon obliteration, by pre-registering for the game by logging in with their Facebook accounts at www.transformers-mobile.com.

More news will follow as we receive it.
