Besides its fantastic longform features, The New York Times Magazine is known for its striking cover art. The Sunday publication has been creatively led by Arem Duplessis for the past decade, and now Duplessis is leaving to join Apple as a creative director within its marketing department.

“I’ve been at The New York Times Magazine for almost ten years,” said Duplessis in an interview. “I have worked with some of the smartest people on the planet and it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I feel very fortunate to have been able to experience such a great gig. With that said, it’s time for a new chapter and a new challenge.”

A report from September said that Apple is looking to nearly double the size of its in-house creative team. The company frequently outsources ad campaigns with other marketing firms, but the hiring of Duplessis suggests that we may see more campaigns start coming from within Apple’s own walls.
