In 1983, Electronic Arts released M.U.L.E., a seminal title in the history of gaming that not only was one of the first real-time strategy titles, but also one of the first multiplayer games. It’s a game that has been widely hailed for decades by gaming enthusiasts, but has never seen an official update… until now, as M.U.L.E. Returns has hit the iOS App Store.
Taking charge of a robotic pack animal called a M.U.L.E., here’s how the game plays:
MULE is a ridiculously fun and addictive strategy game that combines real-time and turn-based styles as you battle for land and resources on a newly colonized planet. The game is easy to grasp but provides great depth of gameplay.
The game is more a remake than a sequel, and features all of the original games characters and maps, but with revamped visuals, interfaces and sounds. It also adds all of the modern accoutrements of most iOS games today, including achievements and leaderboards/
I’ve always wanted to play M.U.L.E. but never really wanted to deal with an Atari 400 emulator to do so, so I’m in. What about you?
You can download M.U.L.E. Returns on the App Store here.
