Sony’s new PlayStation companion app is now available on Android and iOS ahead of the PlayStation 4’s worldwide launch this month. The app allows you to access the PlayStation Network on the go to view your notifications, invitations, game alerts, and (finally!) messages; as well as your friends list, trophies, and profile.

The PlayStation App has actually been around a while, but until today, it had a very limited number of features — users couldn’t even access their PSN messages. But now you’ll get a lot more use out of it.

One of the app’s best features is the ability to purchase games from the PlayStation Store and then send them to your PS4, so you can start the download while you’re at work and it’ll be ready and waiting for you when you get home. It will also allow you to use your smartphone or tablet as a second screen in games that support this feature.

Other features include quick access to PlayStation.Blog, and access to PlayStation user guides and manuals.

You can download PlayStation App for iOS from the App Store, and for Android from Google Play now. It’s free on both platforms.
