Orée’s Wireless Charging Case Is Made From Wood and Leather

What is it with wooden gadgets? Cases I can understand – cases have been fashioned from wood since cases were invented, but it seems like a poor material choice for most high-tech purposes.

Then again, it looks gorgeous, just like this wireless charging sleeve from Orée.

The sleeve comes in walnut or maple and has a rigid wooden back, with a wooden chin down at the bottom to hold the electronics. The iPhone is held in place by a leather strap across its forehead, plus a Lightning plug that slides into its bottom hole. There’s also a leather flap to cover the screen, held closed by magnets.

To use the case for charging, you need to add the €110 wireless Power Pebble which comes in wood or marble, or be in possession of a Qi-compatible charging mat. The case itself costs €90, or around $120. Steep, but you can ditch those pesky cables forever.
