Mailbox, the popular email app for iPhone, has been updated with a big feature: the ability to search for Gmail messages stored in the cloud. Searching was previously limited to locally stored messages only.
The feature works very much like Apple’s Mail app. When you perform a search, Mailbox will look for related items on the server after it shows all offline results.
Another addition in today’s update is the ability to attach a different email signature to individual addresses. Links can also be opened in Google Chrome instead of Safari.
Mailbox was bought by Dropbox earlier this year, and you can still get 1GB of free space on Dropbox when you link the two apps together. Mailbox is available on both the iPhone and iPad for free in the App Store. Gmail accounts are only supported right now, but more email platforms are coming. A Mac version is also in the works.
