The Executive, The Perfect iPad Keyboard/Stand For Sweaty, Nylon-Suited Businessmen

By

excretive

“The Executive.” The very name brings to mind leather cellphone accessories, oversized black onyx desks and “business class” seats on a 737, which consist of a curtain between you and the oiks, an inch of extra legroom and a terrible, plastic-wrapped breakfast to shove into your gullet during the 25 minutes of non-restricted flight time.

And “The Executive” is also the name of a Bluetooth keyboard designed — presumably — for using in those cramped “business class” seats.

The keyboard — which comes (natch) only in black — has a flip-up lid which turns into a holder for your iPad or iPhone thanks to a kickstand around the back. And that really is it. Well, apart from a little more teasing that is.

A kickstand really does seem to be the laziest possible way to accommodate a heavy tablet. The Incase Origami is way more elegant, and the cut-out slot in products from Zagg and Logitech are also much better. Then again, you can almost guarantee that anyone buying a keyboard labelled “The Executive” will be carrying an Android tablet, plus one of those huge Android phones (probably in a belt holster), so elegance and clean design is likely a long way down the list.

The Executive is available now, for $70.
