Baldurs Gate fans, rejoice, as the classic role playing game, recently ported to iPad in Enhanced Edition, is back on the App Store after a couple of months.
The developers at Beamdog pulled the game in June after some sort of contractual dispute. That was a sad day, as Beamdog are true believers, and were planning to port Baldur’s Gate II to the iPad, while maybe even developing a Baldur’s Gate III if the second game were a success.
As reported over at Pocket Tactics, however, Beamdog posted a note on its mailing list:
We’ll announce the details of an upcoming major Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition patch and the Android tablet version in the near future. We’ll also have some exciting news regarding Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition soon after.
This is good news for Beamdog and fans of the game, of course, as we can hopefully look forward to Baldur’s Gate II and III, now.
The iPad version of the game was subject to a delayed launch, eventually appearing in December of last year for $9.99. The Mac version of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition came out on the Mac in March of this year, with enhanced graphics and lighting, for $19.99.
We’re seriously looking forward to the news about possible sequels, and will keep you up to date when we hear more.
