Wahoo PROTKT Case Turns Your iPhone Into A Bike Computer

PROTKT

Wahoo, known for making sports-tracking accessories that hook up to your iPhone and turn it into a bike/running/fitness computer, has finally made a bike mount for your trusty outboard brain. It’s called the PROTKT, and it puts your iPhone up on your handlebars whilst making sure it stays safe.

The PROTKT comes in two main parts: the case and the mount. The case is waterproof and shockproof (read: bounce-off-the-asphalt proof) and lets you make calls and take photos while the iPhone is inside. The screen is glass, and there is also a headphone hole and a home button.

Then there’s the mount, which works like pretty much any bike-computer mount you might be familiar with. The bracket is curved to fit the bike’s handlebar stem, and is held in place with two cable ties (the more usual rubber rings are presumably too stretchy to take the extra torque caused by the big, long iPhone waggling about up top). The mount and the case have matching circular bayonets which clip together with a quarter-turn. It’s a tried and tested method which is both secure and makes it easy to remove the iPhone, for calls, photos, or quick visits to bars for a little helper on cold winter rides.

The mount and case are both available now, and will cost you a reasonable $70. We should be reviewing one soon.
