T-Mobile’s new summer smartphone promotion is a scorcher: The carrier has eliminated down payments entirely and dropped the price of all devices to $0. Even the latest handsets like the iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Sony Xperia Z are included in the hot new deal, which the company announced today.

But there is a catch.

You’ll still have to pay for the smartphone — you just don’t have to pay anything up front. So while you’re getting your handset for “free” when you order it, your monthly payment will increase.

T-Mobile was previously charging $100 to $150 for devices up front, plus a $20 fee every month. That monthly fee will now increase to between $20 and $27, depending on which smartphone you go for. The Nokia Lumia 521 is the only exception at just $5 per month.

New and existing customers can take advantage of the deal, which kicks off tomorrow. Not only is it available with T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plan, but also the new JUMP plan, which allows you to upgrade your device twice a year.

“The number of reasons not to switch to T-Mobile this summer is zero,” said John Legere, president and chief executive officer of T-Mobile USA, in the company’s press release. “This is a fantastic offer and we’re making it easier than ever for customers to get the latest amazing devices. Adding Zero Down in addition to JUMP!, and Simple Choice with no contract, is all about making wireless work for consumers and shaking up this industry.”

The promotion will be available online and nationwide at participating T-Mobile retail stores.
