KING Art and Nordic Games just released a brand new, gorgeous point and click adventure game, The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief to Mac, PC, and Linux via the Steam or Nordic Games shop in both Standard and Deluxe editions. The game will also come to PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade later this summer.

The first of three chapters, The Eye of the Sphinx, is now ready for download on either distribution platform, and is even 10 percent off as a launch special through the 30th of July.

The season pass option will be $22.49 for the standard edition and $29.99 for the deluxe once the launch discount period if over. The next two chapters are planned for release on August 27 and September 24th.

The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief takes place across 1960s Europe, with a whodunit mystery and a heist story all in one place. You’ll get to play both sides of the story–as investigator and thief–in a story that pays tribute to classics in the mystery genre by Agatha Christie. You’ll play through the game, gathering clues to eventually capture the elusive thief to protect the legendary sapphire, the Eye of the Sphinx. Exciting!

“The reaction to The Raven so far has been extremely positive so we’re excited to finally get the game out to the community,” said Martin Kreuch, Producer at Nordic Games. “The episodic format should create an immersive experience that allows players to experience cliff hangers like you would when watching a TV series.”

The game has been in development for the past two years, and–in the trailer, at least–that effort shows. Jan Theysen, creative director at KING Art says that the story is full of twists and turns that will leave you with your mouth hanging open. “We’re extremely proud of the game and a lot of work has gone into enticing people back to the adventure genre and the story has been key factor in making this happen,” said Theysen.

This new game features more character animation and camera shots than any of the Viennese company’s previous games, including The Book of Unwritten Tales and The Critter Chronicles, put together.

But wait, there’s more. If you want to find out more about The Raven and his backstory, you need look no further than a free interactive graphic novel, available on the web, iOS, or Android.
