That was painful to watch. Calling him ‘Obnoxious’ is a sugar coated understatement. He was rude and disrespectful to a bunch of strangers. Asking that guy if he had seen a naked girl was worthy of getting fired in my opinion. Then getting all passive aggressive and telling the guy to have a sense of humor? What a man. I hate jackass light weights like this all jacked up on energy drinks thinking they are comedians and better than the subject they are reporting on. I’m not against making light of lining up for a phone but wow that witless moron really pissed me off.

A cameraman stuck his camera into my face yesterday while I was in line. He was very nice and just smiled and left when I said, “No.” Thankfully, not all are rude jackasses like the clown in the video.

This is EXACTLY what is wrong with news programs in our country these days. There is no news on The News!!! Isn’t there a war or something going on?

  4. Camino says:

Do you think he has ever seen a woman naked?
This is really not journalism. This is a guy bullying some people on TV. Someone with more knowledge of hacking than I please get into this guys online life and give him a real bullying.

  5. Bram O. says:

Haha, that is ridiculous, and they can’t even spell “iPhone”!

  6. Beschizza says:

Hey, anyone notice the book he was holding was an undersize hardback with a white paper cover?

    journalist = dick. :D

  8. Deocliciano says:

He may have ruined his reputation.
    Poor guy!

  9. Ryu says:

Can someone get more details on that guy so a bunch of us can start attacking him online?

The KTLA morning news is known for their “humor” and their show is much less serious than other news programs. So it’s a bit harsh to criticize them for showing stuff that isn’t quite “newsworthy” as these types of stories are what they have been doing for years (and they’re usually quite entertaining and the reason people watch them).

CNN morning news is a much better example of journalists being horrible and often doing “fluff” stories rather than covering what’s really happening in the world.

I’m so glad that shoot went the way it did – and no anchor better to see it happen than the lovely Michaela Pereira, formerly of TechTV fame!

I don’t know if anyone noticed, but the KTLA anchor who was embarrasedly trying to keep the “reporter” from making a jackass of himself was Michaela herself, who used to host TechLive on TechTV. That’s why she said “those are my people out there.” :)

Something tells me the “reporter” won’t be doing technology stories again anytime soon. Here’s hoping he’s not doing ANY stories anytime soon.

    @ Ryu:
The guy’s name is mentioned in the YouTube comments: Eric Spillman

  15. Jesse says:

Eric as a blog on KTLA. Some of the comments on the iphone story just show the demographic he was obviously trying to appeal to.

He should have answered: “Yeah – your sister!”

  17. Luke Hendrickson says:

Just comfort yourselves with the following: he’s a guy on KTLA. He’s not moving up and has hit the peak of his broadcasting career. What a loser.

  18. Sonny says:

I guess I’m alone in thinking that the guy in line had no sense of humor. He actually came off as kind of a douchebag. I’d like to see triumph the insult comic dog go down there and pwn every one of those idiots.

  19. Camperton says:

    Sonny.

See that’s the key here. Triumph is actually funny. Eric Spillman is not. He has no business trying to roast people or match wits with them. Especially on live TV.

  20. Richard F Jones says:

A minor point. It looks like it was a morning show. So it isn’t anything even approaching “journalism”, just noise whilst getting away for the morning.

    No excuse, but…

Also, I think the anchors were as big of a ‘dick’ as the field ‘porter.

I love how the short bus drives by just as he is called a jackass and dumb.
