Amazing, and pretty much all that needs to be said. Like a Big Mouth Billy Bass, you will either love this app or hate it. I’m a huge fan of swear words, both in use and etymologically (although I don’t pepper my speech with them willy-nilly – that’s just wasteful), and the F word stands tall as one of the titans of international swearing, used outside English-speaking countries as well as within.
Maybe it’s the sound, which is simultaneously pronounceable by any tongue (like Kodak!) and also tremendously satisfying to say. Even if you don’t know that “fuck” is a profanity, it has an impact, an explosive quality that is startling for the listener and satisfying for the user.
Anyway. Effing Weather features the F-word, although you have to switch it on in the preferences. The forecasts work anywhere, and are powered by the Weather Underground (the best name for a weather service, like, ever), and you get a few icons along the bottom of the screen to tell you about upcoming conditions.
Oh, and best of all, it’s fucking free.
