Scanner Pro from Readdle is a super useful app which allows you to scan documents, receipts, and more and then store them digitally on your iOS devices. With its latest update, Scanner Pro got even easier with real-time border detection technology, which automatically finds page borders for you.

Prior to this update, you had to select your page borders manually after taking a picture of your document. It worked pretty well, but it was a little fiddly, and it was often the longest part of the scanning process. But that’s no longer the case.

“The latest update adds tremendous power to the app, and it is an inevitable step in its evolution,” Readdle says. “Real-time border detection technology works perfectly and makes it very easy for the user to see which part of the document will be scanned.”

I’ve been trying the new feature out myself this morning, and I’ve found it works well. I scanned a handful of receipts on my desk and Scanner Pro found the borders correctly every time. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by it so far. Check out the demo video below.

If you’re unfamiliar with Scanner Pro, it’s a terrific little app which lets you scan all kinds of documents onto your iPhone or iPad. You can then keep a record of them digitally, store them in the cloud, print them, or send them.

Here are a few reasons why Scanner Pro is better than other scanner apps, according to Readdle:

– it automatically crops the document and makes the scan more readable
– it removes shadows and corrects perspective
– it can save scans as b/w document
– it scans multipage documents and saves them as a single PDF file
– it allows you to share your scans: automatically unload to Dropbox, Evernote, etc.

Scanner Pro is priced at $6.99, and you can find the latest version in the App Store now. Existing users get it free, of course.
