Apple’s iCloud services have suffered a number of outages in recent weeks, and this morning the service has gone down again. The downtime appears to be affecting Mail, Find My iPhone, and Find My Friends on Macs and iOS devices, while visitors to iCloud.com cannot access any of Apple’s cloud-based services.
Several readers have emailed us to report the issue, and we’ve been able to verify it ourselves. As you can see from the screenshot above, iCloud.com is currently giving out a “Connection Error,” which explains that “iCloud encountered an error while trying to connect to the service.”
It’s unclear how many users are affected by the issues, and as usual, Apple’s “System Status” page is less than helpful. It does note, however, that “users may incorrectly receive an authentication error when attempting to use iCloud,” and that “setting up a new iCloud account from an eligible device may be temporarily unavailable.”
If you’re having trouble accessing iCloud services this morning, then, don’t worry — you’re not the only one. A lot of others are seeing the same thing, and it appears Apple is aware of it.
I must say that it’s slightly worrying how common these iCloud issues are becoming. Last Friday, iCloud email was down for more than 24 hours, while a week prior, iMessage and FaceTime suffered outages. Some users also had issues accessing these services on April 9.
