Gorgeous Intimo MacBook Desk Not Just For Secretaries

The Intimo Secretary Desk might sound like a place your assistant would keep his or her sexy underwear, but it is in fact a modern bureau-style desk for your MacBook (or any laptop, I guess – not that PC owners would have this level of style).

It’s gorgeous, and when you’re done working for the day you can close it up and grab your iPad for some light reading.

The deets:

Dimensions: 33.25"Wx19.5"Dx41"H

Designed by Jannis Ellenberger

Engineered wood with oak veneer

Sides are solid oak

Clear matte lacquer

What I really love about the Intimo is that it combines an old idea – the fold-out desk – with modern conveniences like cable routing and a neat little shelf for keeping peripherals and accessories close to hand. And of course you can leave your mess inside for tomorrow, and hide it just by closing the door.

That’s not all. The shape of the cabinet would let you use it as a standing desk whilst closed, as long as you don’t mind your MacBook poking out over the front edge.

Finally, even the price is good. Usually the desks I like enough to write about turn out to cost thousands. This one is just $400. That’s close to Ikea pricing (well, Ikea bead and kitchen pricing, at least).

This looks like a beautiful and practical piece of furniture for those with light work needs and little space, however, it doesn’t appear that the inside is deep enough to allow the depth of the MacBook Air shown to fit when the door is closed. This would become even more problematic with larger 15″ or 17″ MacBook Pros, which makes the design somewhat impractical. To be functional the desk should let you to store the laptop inside to eliminate having to store it somewhere else, then carry it to the desk to work.
