The Pokémon Company just released an official app for Android and iOS called Pokémon TV, which allows you to watch Pokémon episodes on your smartphone or tablet completely free of charge. Although this isn’t the Pokémon game you’ve been waiting for for years, it’s sure to please plenty of Pokémon fans.

Pokémon TV is free to download, and there are no in-app purchases you must purchase for additional downloads or annoying ad banners. It offers a selection of fan-favorite episodes from a library of more than 700 spanning fifteen seasons, and the selection is updated each week.

In addition to this, fans can use the app to “catch special features, trailers, and Pokémon movie events.” It also supports AirPlay on iOS, allowing you to stream episodes to your Apple TV. Check out the trailer below.

Gamers have been itching for an official Pokémon game for smartphones for many years, but because the franchise is co-owned by Nintendo, it’s unlikely to ever happen. The Japanese company has stated publicly that it won’t develop games for Android and iOS, and that gamers will have to continue purchasing its own hardware to play them.

It seems it isn’t again Pokémon apps, however. In addition to Pokémon TV, an official Pokédex was brought to iOS back in November.

Pokémon TV is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play.
