CES 2013 bug LAS VEGAS, CES 2013 – Sometimes you find something that catches your eye in the back alleys of CES, and the Justin Case by Innovative Technologies is exactly like that. It’s a very compact, slim and stylish folio case for your iPad or iPad mini with built-in slim line battery connected to elegantly sreamlined 30-pin and Lightning chargers.

Innovative Technologies isn’t exactly the kind of brand you hear a lot from, and that’s fine: they’re the kind of company that shovels out a lot of electronics accessories en masse and on the low-end of the market, sells them wherever they can and just see what sticks.

That’s not to say they can’t have a good idea, though, and the Justin Case is one of them. Most external batteries are either dedicated packs you have to remember to carry around, or bulky cases that juice only the gadget they are attached to.

The Justin Case is different, though: it’s an attractive, slim folio with a built-in battery pack (capacities bouncing between 3400mAH and 6600mAH, depending on the model). The trick is that there are built-in and neatly organized 30 pin and Lightning cables that you can pull out to charge not just the iPad the case surrounds, but your iPhone or iPod as well.

Innovative Technologies is pushing a huge line of different Justin Cases for the iPad and iPad mini, most of which are subtly different in one way or another, including different battery capacities, included connectors and so on. The cases we saw, though, were at least as attractive as the usual folio-style cases you see from bigger names, and the prices were extremely competitive: the Justin Case will sell for between $49.99 and $59.99, depending on the model.

The only problem is how long it will take for them to get here. Innovative says not to expect to see a Justin Case on the market until Father’s Day.
