All New Yahoo! Mail App For iPhone Is Here, And It Looks Great

Google rolled out a major update to its Gmail app for iOS last week, and it seems Yahoo! is keen to keep up. The company just introduced a brand new look to its Yahoo! Mail app for iPhone, which introduces a brand new look that I’m a big fan of. It’s not too dissimilar to Gmail’s, in fact. And in some ways it’s better.

Yahoo! Mail’s inbox and compose message view looks very similar to Gmail’s, but with Yahoo!’s purple coloring as opposed to Gmail’s grey. Yahoo! Mail also has the same pop-out navigation pane that lets you quickly switch between folders, and access contacts and draft messages on the fly.

In some ways, Yahoo! Mail is better than the new Gmail app. One of the biggest problems I’ve had with Google’s solution is that it presents my emails on what appears to be a sheet of paper, making the already small reading space even smaller.

Yahoo! Mail’s new look looks terrific on the iPhone 5, but don’t expect to get the same enjoyment out of it on your Retina iPad. The app’s still iPhone-only, I’m afraid; there is no iPad compatibility. It also doesn’t support multiple accounts, so you’ll either have to keep switching between them manually by logging in and out, or use another in Apple’s own Mail app.

You can find Yahoo! Mail version 1.0.1 in the App Store now using the source link below.
