The Apple TV has become a mythical creature. Sustaining itself off the delicious nectar of Gene Munster’s wishful rumors, its remained hidden for years and who knows if it’ll ever make an appearance in the real world.
The latest rumor is that Apple will announce their TV set next year. If Apple does make a TV it’s likely to bring some huge changes to the cable television industry, and Time Warner’s CEO can’t wait.
In an interview at Business Insider’s IGNITION conference, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes was asked what he thought about Apple making a TV.said that he hopes Apple makes a TV and applauded Apple for being a great device company.
“I hope they do. I think Apple is a great device company. They bring good interface and navigation skills.” says Bewkes.
Bewkes also noted that he doesn’t think Apple will be alone in their efforts to revolutionize the cable industry. A lot of other tech companies will jump into the competition which won’t be a surprise as we’ve already seen Google and Samsung implement their own TV interface and rumor is that Microsoft is working on a low-cost set-top box.
