Make Beautiful Music With A Friend Using This Free iPad Piano App, Duette

Seriously, you're not those guys.
Seriously, you're not those guys.

Want to make like Elton John and Billy Joel, dueling across from each other on two pianos, playing the hits from both of your huge ouvre of pop tunes? Well, except for the whole you’re-not-either-one-of-those-guys part, you can play two piano-like keyboards across from another friend on your iPad, with new free app, Duette.

Duette for iPad has two keyboards facing each other across the iPad, letting you and another musically inclined buddy tickle the ivories together. Future versions, says the developer, will have synth and other keyboard sounds, which should make it even more fun.

The piano image is artsy, as if it’s been painted on canvas with ink and watercolor. There are ads that pop down from the top of the iPad screen, which is fine as this is a free app. IT is multitouch capable, of course, so both of you can play single notes or chords at the same time. You can’t swipe across the keys to get a glissando effect, but perhaps that will come in a future update.

Duette is available now on the iTunes App Store for the aforementioned price of free.
