Valve’s continued support for Mac games is laudable. Including Mac gaming in their offerings continues to prove to naysayers that Macs are a viable gaming machine, and deserve to be treated well, with support for games, developers and, of course, publishers of Mac games.
Steam Greenlight is a new initiative from Bellevue-based Valve Software aimed at allowing the growing Steam membership a say in the process of choosing what games to produce for the popular multiplayer and online digital distribution system, Steam.
“Steam Greenlight is a new system that enlists the community’s help in picking some of the next games to be released on Steam,” says the company website. “Developers post information, screenshots, and videos for their game and seek a critical mass of community support in order to get selected for distribution. Steam Greenlight also helps developers get feedback from potential customers and start creating an active community around their game as early in the development process as they like.”
The idea here is that folks who play games might be the best ones to decide which games get published and distributed via the Steam system. Once logged into the Steam website, you can head over to the Greenlight page itself, and starte looking at videos, screenshots, and descriptions of games vying to be the next big Steam hit.
Which brings us to the Mac games currently in the Greenlight process. Depending on the search terms, I’ve been able to find several games with the Mac tag on them. If you think these games look good to you, and would buy them on Steam to play on your Mac, be sure to vote them through the Greenlight system.
The games I saw there that claim Mac support are the following:
Dream Chaser
by Evoke Method
The Stanley Parable: HD Remix
by Cakebread
No Time To Explain
by tinyBuild
Edge of Space
by Reverb Publishing
Project Black Sun
by Gekko
Drip Drip
by Imminent Games
Look good to you? Me, too. If you find any more Mac-based games in your Steam Greenlight queue, let us all know in the comments below.
