Facebook’s on a roll lately. Just a week after they released their hyper fast speed update to the native Facebook app, the world’s biggest social network has also given some improvements to the lesser-used Facebook Camera, adding notifications, likes, improved photo management, comments and other UI improvements. It’s actually a pretty usable app now!

Facebook Camera was a weird app. It was released right after the social network purchased Instagram for over $1 billion and emulated much of Instagram’s functionality, but with a decidedly Facebook twist. Why bother releasing the app at all when Instagram’s competing against it?

Facebook Camera is still missing much of a “why”, but at least the edges have now been polished. You now get notifications for tags, likes and comments on photos, and you can even create new albums or add photos to existing albums. You can also like and comment on posts with more than one photo, scroll through long captions and more.

If you share most of your photos through Facebook, Facebook Camera has seen major improvements since version 1.0. You can grab it here.
