An SEC filing from computer security specialists Symantec reveals its former Chief Accounting Officer Phillip Bullock has joined Apple to head up the Cupertino company’s tax department.

Like many things, Apple is usually tight-lipped about its hiring and firing, but Symantec’s SEC filing gave this one away.

Phillip A. Bullock, who was appointed as Symantec’s Chief Accounting Officer in September 2009, announced he will be leaving the Company to lead the tax department at Apple, Inc., and not due to any disagreement with the Company on any matters relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices.

Andrew Del Matto, who has been Symantec’s Corporate Treasurer and Vice President of Finance Business Operations for the past seven years, is now the company’s new Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer.

Apple is yet to announce Bullock’s appointment publicly, but he could soon join Apple’s latest high-profile hiring, John Browett, on the company’s investor relations page. Browett took over from Ron Johnson as Apple’s senior vice president of retail early this year after a number of executive roles in the U.K.
