Dolphin Browser is arguably one of the best third-party browsers for iOS, and the iPhone version just became even better with its latest update. Version 4.0 brings a stack of new features including Dolphin Sonar voice controls, a URL keyboard, and a night mode — and it’s available to download now.

Dolphin Sonar is the biggest feature in version 4.0, and it allows you to use you voice to search the web, share content via your favorite social networks, bookmark your favorite website, and navigate your way around the app. The app’s developers say it’s so easy to use, “you may just forget how to type.”

UPDATE: The Dolphin Sonar feature can be unlocked with an in-app purchase priced at $0.99.

Additionally, you now have the option to customize your search engine, by choosing either Google, Yahoo!, Bing, or Wikipedia as your default. You can also make reading your search results and articles easier with a choice of three font sizes.

Nighttime reading is also much more enjoyable thanks to Dolphin’s new night mode, which will quickly decrease your iPhone’s brightness at the tap of a button.

There’s also a URL keyboard, which was previously removed, but is now back by popular demand. And any images you save while browsing the web now go directly to your Camera Roll.

Finally, the version 4.0 update brings various stability and performance improvements which should provide a better Dolphin experience.

I’m a huge fan of the Dolphin Browser on both iPhone and iPad (though this update is for iPhone only) and I recommend you give it a try if you haven’t already. The best thing about it is it’s completely free.
