Let’s face it, the only reason I don’t get lost four times a day, even in the town I live in, is because my iPhone has Maps on it. No other navigation app I’ve tried hits that sweet spot of simplicity and helpfulness. I even use Maps for finding local business phone numbers. It’s that useful.
The inclusion of public transportation routes has been equally useful, I’m sure, for folks who live in more urban areas with good bus and rail systems. If you’re one of those lucky folks, here’s a tip just for you.
While you may be searching for bus or train routes during your morning walk to get a latte, you may not want to leave right away, which is the default when getting directions for public transportation. However, you can also tap the little clock by the route time information, and then tap on the “Depart” box. Select the day and time you want to leave, and specify whether that’s departure or arrival time, and tap “Done.” You know, like you do when you’re finished. The route details will then update, letting you finish that super extra caffeinated mocha latter extreme in peace.
