DROID RAZR MAXX To Be Available January 26? Motorola’s Website Thinks So

We caught our first glimpse of the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX at CES with its added (but still irremovable) 3300 mAh battery. Instead of making things easy and allowing users the convenience of swapping out batteries, Motorola decided to create an entirely new version of the DROID RAZR, this time with better battery life for the power-sucking 4G LTE. Although everything besides the new battery remained the same, we weren’t given any sort of release date for the MAXX. The keen eyes over at Droid-Life noticed that Motorola wasn’t so coy, and in fact posted a release date of January 26 on their website. More…

LG Rumored To Be Getting First Crack At Google’s Newest Google TV Software

Google has consistently teamed up with manufactures to debut new Android software versions in a
pure “Google Experience,” void of any manufacturer overlays. We’ve seen this with the smartphone Nexus line, as well as with the Motorola XOOM tablet. When it comes to Google TV however, there were actually two companies that had first crack at it, and as you already know, that didn’t go so well. For Google’s next version of Google TV, they’d like to make a better impression, and rumor has it that they may team up with LG to deliver it. More…

Not interested in Android, not at all. I have iOS devices and Macs, that’s why I come to this site. Fill the site up with too much Android news and I stop coming here.

  • Brock Smith

Oh my bad… I thought this was Cult Of MAC! As in MACINTOSH, as in APPLE. Nevermind…

  • markbyrn

Are you guys requiring every one of your writers to post an article from Android on your mac site?  It’s really starting to get annoying.  Every time you do this, you get a page of our discontent.  How many more posts do we need to make before you realize on the mac site we only want mac.  No more android on this site.

what adds insult to injury is when each article has the same lame intro:
“What’s this? Android news on Cult of Mac? Who cares? Maybe you don’t, maybe you do. Point is: “

I can promise you by now, your regular readers are not caught off guard, nor are we star struck by any novelty that may had been there the first time this was done.

    Please stop cross posting.

  • Patrick

Enough with the Android BS already!

I guess it’s time to switch my home page back to TUAW.  I’m beginning to wonder why I ever switched???

    Good bye!!!

  • makias

C’mon guys! we REALLY don’t want to read Android news in this site!
At least you turned the comments ON again…

  • kcroy

Why would I want to read about Android garbage on Cult of Mac.  Um… dictionary boys? Get that crap off of here.

  • andya41

Can’t believe you are letting comments on here again.  Bet you turn them off soon.  I can say that if these Android articles continue, I won’t give you any more news!  And that’s the price you pay!

  • Craig Steiger

aaaaaaah enough already we get it there is an android site….

  • VotersRights

18 comments as I write this and not a single one had anything positive to say about Android or Cult of Mac spamming readers. There’s a lesson to learn there, Leander, and it’s shocking that you still haven’t learned it. You’re losing readers over something idiotic, but that’s CoM’s choice and when CoM goes out of business you’ll have earned it. No other Mac site treats their readers like this, and there are a LOT of Mac sites. We have many choices. I encourage the other readers to explore the other sites.

9to5Mac, OSX Daily, Mac Life, MacRumors, Macgasm, TUAW, to just name a few. Not a single one spams their readers with Android articles in the Mac section.

Thank you, I am still relatively new to Mac, and didn’t know about these other sites. I am really enjoying TUAW!  Nice to read posts and know they all apply to me before wasting my time.

(Looks like i’m heading back to 9to5mac again!)

  • Rjp9200

Why has CoM turned into an Android headline shoppe? It started with poorly written articles by CoM pseudo-writers, and has graduated to poorly written re-posts of CoA articles. The reader is CoM know the URL for CoA, let us decide whether to read their articles or not. Stop posting them to CoM!!

  • Rjp9200

    I’m making that switch also.

  • 69Voltage

I took Kr00’s advice and checked out OSX Daily. Good site. No Android articles.

  • Rjp9200

9to5Mac is the best one I have found so far. No android and no stupid articles in which their only relationship to Apple is that they ar about electronics.

Know of them, just haven’t spent much time there. I just like the “easy reading” of CoM, minus the Android articles. But found OSX Daily has the same easy read. Will start visiting 9-5. Thanks for the input man.

  • AvoidDroid

I don’t know what change in policy caused Cult Of Mac to begin posting articles from Cult Of Android, but I agree with many of these comments. I come here to get Mac news and you may guess from my moniker that I have a decided distaste for Android, so I don’t wish to read all the Android raves. If this trend continues I’ll probably remove this bookmark and go elsewhere. Right now this looks like Cult Of I Don’t Know What. Too bad. This used to be an excellent website.

    Hi CoM,

I’ve really enjoyed your site over the years. I came to it through my interest in all things Apple and for many years it has been a daily destination.

However, things have changed. Over the past couple of months you’ve taken, what is a relatively good site, dedicated to all things Apple and turned it into a link swapping, cross posting pile of shit.

I know, this probably sounds a bit strong but for fuck’s sake guys, you are selling yourself as one of the defacto destinations for Apple fans but when we walk through the doors it’s a different story.  I know that Apple is not a company alone in the world, I am an intelligent guy who has been following Apple’s lot for nearly 20 years and I can appreciated that are part of a much wider tech community. However, if I want to read about other things like Android I can go to an Android site. What I don’t expect is to come here, day after day and be served up crap that I have no interest in.

So, I’m off.  I’m off to – I’m going there because it is a better choice if you are interested in Apple. This site is not very good anymore – it’s as simple as that, and that’s a great pity.

I’ll keep popping in to see if things get better but from now on this site is not on my rounds.

Ta ta. (i’ll miss CoM, but not that much, how sad).

What do I see when I come to CoM? Another Android Article! Oh and Guess what?! They turned the comments OFF! So I came here to share my distaste with you all. If I wanted to read about Android CRAP I would go to an Android website. The fact that you’re polluting this website with stuff we don’t care about and don’t want to read and then turn the comments OFF and try to convince us that your horrible Android news is worth being here is stupid and idiotic of you all. I’ve loved this website, but I couldn’t care less about your baby Android website and you trying to get us to visit it. Goodbye CoM, I’m going to OSX Daily and 9to5 Mac…they don’t pollute their websites with Android crap and try to convince us they’re right and we’re wrong. I would say it’s been fun, but then again…has it?
